What our guests say:

We travelled to Mongonui for a quiet weekend but my husband was taken ill within an hour of checking in. Steve and Marris were absolutely wonderful. Steve drove my husband all the way to Kataia to hospital, as it was getting dark and I cannot drive in the dark. They both showed great compassion and concern for a complete stranger - nothing was too much for them! We had the Whitu suite and it was, or would have been, perfect for a weekend break - beautifully appointed with a stunning view. The old colonial theme was carefully worked around with the old doors and windows being retained, but with a modern touch of luxury in decor and furnishings. Situated bang smack in the middle of the restaurant/cafe/bar area, you dont even need your car once there. Steve even has a boat and rods that were at our disposal! Thank you both for everything, we WILL be back for that weekend.

A quick note to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay with you - the best on our trip to Northland! Great place, great hospitality and great location. We will be back.
Bryon & Sandy - Hunterville - April 2010

We very much enjoyed our stay with you.  At the time, which was the beginning of our trip, we thought it unlikely we would better your Motel.  Despite the very high standard in NZ we stayed nowhere else in three weeks that even came close.  Your Motel fits Mangonui very well, a lovely place and your motel is excellent.

A big thank you for a wonderful stay, our 4 nights in the Tahi room were great, wish we could have stayed longer. Your hospitality and friendliness is appreciated, loved the special touches. We look forward to returning and enjoying the ambience and views you have to offer.
Robert & Gaylene (Waiuku) Nov 2009 P.S. Let me know how the fishing is.

Steve & Marris: Our stay with you was one of the highlights of our trip from Canada to New Zealand. It is nice to see an older hotel so well maintained and the hospitality so terrific. Sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine watching the bay was great and the quiet surroundings made the visit memorable. We'll be back. Thanks again for all the help.
